There is a division and category for everyone!
The competition includes:
-
solo categories and partnered categories.
-
solo, duet, couples and team formats.
-
categories for all levels of dance.
-
Salsa, Bachata, Cha, Samba, Reggaeton and Mixed Latin categories.
Please note regarding teacher/student categories

In all teacher/student categories, only the student is judged. There are four types of teacher/student categories:

Pro/Amateur (the 'pro' can be a professional or semi-pro dancer; only the amateur is judged) - Previously known as Pro-Am

Pro/Youth (the 'pro' can be a professional or semi-pro dancer; only the youth is judged) - Previously known as Adult-Youth

Pro/Masters (the 'pro' can be a professional or semi-pro dancer; only the master is judged) - Previously known as Pro-Am Masters

Pro/Semi-Pro (only the semi-pro is judged) - New

Youth Teams

Amateur Teams: This category allows for a mix of dancers (amateur, masters that also fit the amateur definition, and youth 16+)

Open Teams: This category allows for a mix of dancers (amateur, semi-pro, masters, pro and youth 16+)

Themed Showcase Teams: This category allows for a mix of dancers (amateur, semi-pro, masters, pro and youth 16+)

Open Duets: This category allows for a mix of pro and semi-pro dancers

Open Couples: This category allows for a mix of pro and semi-pro dancers

Open Shines Teams: This category allows for a mix of dancers (amateur, semi-pro, pro, masters, youth 16+)

Open Partnered Teams: This category allows for a mix of dancers (amateur, semi-pro, pro, masters, youth 16+)
Please note this is a tentative list of divisions and categories.
(1) Pending registrations, the organization reserves the right to merge, alter and/or cancel any given category as required.
(2) Any given category must have a minimum of 5 entries for it to go ahead.
Division Definitions
16 years or less.
The following age groupings will be used for solos, and where possible for duets, couples and teams. However if duets, couples and teams have members of mixed grouping ages or insufficient entries, these categories will be combined

7 years or less

8-12 years

3-16 years
17 years +
Defined as a student/person who does not make a living from or has had any financial gain from any dance related activities. This includes teaching, performing, judging, dance studio ownership/management, etc. A person who engages in dancing strictly as an avocation and/or recreational activity only.
17 years +
Defined as a person who has previously received or currently receives financial compensation for dance related activities (e.g. teaching, performing, judging) but does these activities on a part-time/casual basis and makes the majority of their income in another profession.
17 years +
Defined as a person who receives financial compensation for dance related activities (e.g. teaching, performing, judging) and makes the majority or entirety of their income from these activities.
40 years +
Defined as a person of 40 years and over.
The following age groupings will be used for solos, and where possible for duets, couples and teams. However if duets, couples and teams have members of mixed grouping ages, or insufficient entries, these categories will be combined.

61 years or more
Defined as a partnership between a teacher and student, in which only the student is judged. There are 4 types of student/teacher categories.

Pro/Amateur (previously Pro-Am) - The 'pro' can be a pro or semi-pro dancer.

Pro/Youth (previously Adult/Youth) - The 'pro' can be a pro or semi-pro dancer.

Pro/Masters (previously Pro-Am Masters) - The 'pro' can be a pro or semi-pro dancer.

Pro/Semi-Pro (new)
The open division allowed for a mixture of different level dancers.​
